Rebecca Situma is a mother and community member. Though a trained instructor in cloth making, fashion, and design, she was unemployed prior to joining Star of Hope. Rebecca began helping us as a volunteer, repairing students’ clothing. Rebecca fixed torn clothes, replaced buttons, and made new dresses for some of the staff.

When Star of Hope got our sewing machines, Rebecca began teaching the kids the basic skills of using these machines.

Rebecca is now a full-time instructor at our Technical & Vocational Education Training (TVET) section. Her four kids attend SOH school. Her personal life has improved tremendously, going from being unemployed and underutilized to being recognized as a valuable, resourceful teacher. Her impact is quite obvious in the classroom and the uniforms worn proudly by the students.

Our beloved friends and partners!
The year 2025 has been very phenomenal! It's the year we accomplished quite a lot: we have a secure power supply through an additional solar power hub, acquired through your funding. We also have an assured water source after the successful drilling of a deep borehole into a dependable underground aquifer! We also have a tailoring unit, just to mention three of the most outstanding additions making our lives easier and sustainable over and above our regular needs and operational costs! We feel so grateful that we are able to provide an education, shelter, and medication for the kids we serve, and even provide emergency treatment to desperate community members!

We have made all these achievements because of your dedicated and unswerving financial support. Our education program goals now continue with a lot more predictability. The overall impact to our community speaks for itself. Thank you so very much for being our greatest anchorage for all we do!

Yours Sincerely,
Leonard Muyelele

John Osamong is a name that may resonate with our Education Angels. John attended Star of Hope until graduating from 8th grade, then qualified for a local high school. Last year he joined our TVET classes, where he has learned tailoring skills and is among our pioneer graduation cohort of 2025. In the left photo, he's with his classmates in 2011. On the right, he shows his sewing skills today.
